Formula 1 Technical Analysis: McLaren have become the latest Formula 1 team to launch their full Formula 1 2019-spec car ahead of the quickly approaching first pre-season test in Barcelona. Whilst the livery has impressed many fans of McLaren and Formula 1, their are some significant aerodynamic developments that equally put McLaren in the ballpark heading to the new season.
Following the first part of 2018, it became increasingly clear the ‘draggy’ MCL 33 — the team’s 2018 challenger — needed fundamental aerodynamic advances, after the engine proved to be no pushback given Red Bull were in a position to fight for wins and podiums with the same power unit. This prompted early focus on fixing fundamental flaws with the outfit’s car design.
