Toro Rosso Formula 1 team have confirmed Brendon Hartley will partner Pierre Gasly at the Mexican Grand Prix, while Daniil Kvyat will not return despite scoring points in Austin.
F1 Hub reported during the United States GP that a decision had already been taken at Toro Rosso to keep Hartley along-side Gasly for the rest of the Formula 1 season, and Toro Rosso have now confirmed that.
The former LMP1 driver made a successful debut at the United States Grand Prix, whilst Gasly went to compete at Super Formula in Japan, which was eventually cancelled, and finished his debut Formula 1 race 13th place. On the other hand, with over three years of experience, Kvyat could only finish the race in 10th place.
The team are undoubtedly under pressure, after their former driver departed after the Japanese GP to driver for Renault, and after a successful debut for Sainz, Toro Rosso could well be overhauled by Renault for sixth place in the constructors’ championship.
