Daniel Ricciardo could be on course to deliver the most shocking news thus far in terms of the drivers market, as sources close to F1 Hub suggest that the Australian could be set to make the move to Renault, after the Australian grew increasingly frustrated by his team favoring Max Verstappen.
Ricciardo, who has won two races in 2018 for Red Bull, was on course to sign a new contract with the Red Bull Racing team for next year after his talks with Ferrari came to an end in early June, however the Dailymail reports that Ricciardo felt “unloved” after his team gave Max Verstappen, who signed a contract extension in 2017, the de facto ‘number 1’ status.
F1 Hub understand that Ricciardo’s talks came to an unsuccessful end around the Canadian Grand Prix in early June, and thereafter entered into negotiations with McLaren around the French Grand Prix, however those talks did not last long, and the Australian pondered upon signing another two year Formula 1 contract with Red Bull.
However, after negotiations with Renault, it seems quite likely that Daniel Ricciardo could sign with Renault on a long-term Formula 1 contract, taking the place of ‘loaned’ Red Bull driver Carlos Sainz, who now seems to be McLaren bound.
