Canadian GP: Mercedes driver, Nico Rosberg admits he was “p***** off” by Lewis Hamilton’s aggressive move which sent the German off the track on the first lap, and as a result dropping down to ninth place.

The German driver got the second best start from the top three – Rosberg was of no match for the fast-starting Vettel, but Rosberg was looking good for an overtake on team-mate Hamilton, however the German was pushed onto the grass, and dropped down to ninth place.

“We touched and I was off and that’s it.” Rosberg said

It didn’t work out, I was very p***** off in that moment but that’s racing in the end and it’s my job to make sure I’m in front after a battle like that next time.

“Of course that was very costly for me because I lost a lot of places. From then it was an uphill battle trying to fight back. We also nearly run out of fuel which is why I couldn’t attack Max, though he did a very good job at the end.”

After Rosberg’s lap one disappointment, it didn’t get much better for the German – and by the half-way mark a slow puncture meant Rosberg had to commit to a two-stop strategy.

The Mercedes driver had a bitter end to his Grand Prix after he locked his rear-axle at the final chicane in an effort to pass Max Verstappen, and as a result was sent spinning.

“Of course that was very costly for me because I lost a lot of places. From then it was an uphill battle trying to fight back. We also nearly run out of fuel which is why I couldn’t attack Max, though he did a very good job at the end.

“Then I had to drop back, try again, drop back, try again. In the end it went completely pear-shaped. Frustrating race, of course.”
